What happened to Troy Montero, Aubrey Miles' FB page for autism awareness?

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles received bad news early Friday morning, September 22, as Rocket's ASD Awareness Page got unpublished on Facebook for "going against community standards."

Troy and Aubrey created the Facebook page for their daughter Rocket, who is on the autism spectrum.

According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC), autism spectrum disorder is "a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain."

"I am truly sad today," Troy wrote on Instagram. "Facebook has unpublished our Rocket's Autism Awareness page."

"Of course I know this could be from a report or some AI thing but now that our page is down, the option button to dispute is not working. I'm in tears over this. Please @facebook I hope you open my many reports asking why this has happened."

Through the Facebook page, Troy and Aubrey shared their experience as parents of Rocket. Based on Troy's Instagram post, the page has over 100,000 followers.

"I run this FB page for my daughter who is on the Autism Spectrum. We share progress, stories, and even exchange valuable information to other families with Autism.

"Please bring our page back."

In April 2022, Troy and Aubrey opened up about Rocket's autism diagnosis on Instagram. Back then, Rocket was only three years old.

"Yes, our Rocket has ASD, autism spectrum disorder. We didn't share this right away because we are still learning about LSD. It was important for us to educate ourselves about it," Troy wrote.

"Some people might think someone with autism acts crazy, has mental problems, physical issues, and other stuff. Yes, it's mental but not a problem, yes can be physical but it's not an issue and definitely not crazy.

"Autism is different for every kid."

Rocket's symptoms included delayed speech, no eye contact, difficulty communicating, can focus on one thing for hours, repetitiveness, and "almost like an introvert, can be a loner but never alone," among others.

On Rocket's fourth birthday in December 2022, Aubrey revealed that her full sentence was "Happy Birthday to you."

She wrote on Instagram, "Coming from a primarily non-verbal child, we definitely gotta celebrate her birthday! This year we decided to celebrate her 4th birthday at home."
