Liza Soberano explains why her plans in Hollywood were put on hold.

Liza Soberano called out a news site over a negative headline about her “Hollywood dream.”

On X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, September 21, Liza expressed her dismay over news report, which has this headline: “Liza Soberano pinagtatawanan ng bashers.”

Kaya naman sabi ni Liza sa kanyang post, “What type of journalism is this @inquirerdotnet

@banderaphl?? You guys are straight up shitting on a young woman's dreams in the pursuit of clicks and comments. Don't you guys have more important news to talk about??????”

The particular item was already deleted on X, but still active on the news site. It contained negative comments about Liza's new online travel show titled Liza in Korea and her dream to become part of Hollywood.

In a recent interview with GMANetwork.com and other selected entertainment media, Liza explained why her plans for Hollywood were put on hold.

She said, “Right now, I'm not sure if you guys are familiar but there's an actors' strike going on in Hollywood.

“So, a lot of my efforts over the past two years was really just trying to gain awareness for myself in Hollywood because that's where I really want to start pursuing a career at. But because of the strike, a lot of that was put on hold and like, I'm legally not allowed to act because I'm part of the SAG (Screen Actors Guild).”

Liza also mentioned that her reason for doing projects outside Hollywood was also to maintain connection to her fans.

She said, “That's why we're a little more focused on content because I know that my fans miss me and they miss watching me and seeing me in things. That's exactly why we ended up producing Liza in Korea, to give my fans a little something to watch in the meantime and to just be able to reconnect with them and have them see me in kind of a different light.

“I don't think I really had the opportunity to have a show where people get to see me interacting with people [from other countries], with international crowd. They always hear me talking about it a lot. I've said in interviews that I've been going to Korea a lot, Singapore, America, but they've never actually seen it. So, this is an opportunity for them to see and experience with people from different countries.”

Liza also talked about her interest in joining Korean entertainment. And one of her first steps to achieve this is by learning their language.

She related, “I can speak a little now because I've been coming back so often. I've also been doing lessons on Duo Lingo. I hope to really take it seriously and learn the language because… Honestly, I am trying to… of course, it's any actors dream to be in a K-drama or be in a movie here in Korea. I personally want Korea to be like the next Hollywood, if not already like the new Hollywood.

“You know, they're making so much entertainment and so many different formats. Of course, it would be an honor to be part of that. My only downfall is I can't speak Korean fluently. So, I've actually met with a lot of Korean production companies, agents and managers. A lot of them have expressed interest pero sabi nila, balikan ko sila kapag nakakapagsalita na ako ng Korean.”
