Miss Teen Earth and Little Miss Earth Philippines 2014 searches for young Earth champions

By MARY LOUISE LIGUNAS

Forty young girls and ladies proved that it’s never too early to start caring for the environment as they vie for the crowns of Miss Teen Earth and Little Miss Earth Philippines 2014.

On its first year, the pageant brought together twenty kids and twenty teenagers who embody and champion the advocacy of conserving, preserving and protecting the environment.

Candidates aged four to seventeen years old went through different workshops and activities that will help them become effective Earth ambassadors. Pre-finals activities included a modelling school session, a photoshoot for an awareness campaign to promote environmental preservation, and training with beauty queens and renowned pageant experts.

Part of the criteria for judging was the long gown competition during the gala night last May 25 where the twenty kids and twenty teenagers modelled designer outfits made from recycled materials like paper, leaves and mats.

The coronation night, held at the Mall of Asia Arena, will be hosted by Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2011 Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Venus Raj, and multi-awarded Kapuso actress Carla Abellana. Miss World 2011 First Princess Gwendoline Ruais and Bb. Pilipinas-International 2008 Patricia Fernandez will also serve as correspondents during the pageant.

It will also feature performances from top-calibre artists including Jay-R, Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia and Kyla. Catch the gathering of beauty, brains and environmental concern in Miss Teen Earth and Little Miss Earth 2014, this Sunday, 10:45 p.m. on SNBO.
