'MY BFF' brings superior family entertainment on GMA

Beginning June 30, GMA Network presents MY BFF, an original drama series about friendship and family. It will replace My Love from the Star before 24 Oras.

This child-friendly program highlights the value of family togetherness, and the joy of having each and every member of the household by our side.

Set to touch the hearts of the viewers are two of the network’s lovable child stars Jillian Ward and Mona Louise Rey. Jillian plays the role of Chelsea who is a smart, cheerful, courageous and compassionate best friend to Mona (Rachel), a kind-hearted introvert who is often the target of school bullies.

“Masaya po ako kasi po may bago po ulit akong project sa GMA and yung role ko po rito ay hindi ordinary po na ngayon ko lang din po gagawin,” says Jillian.

Mona, on the other hand, is happy to be working again with Jillian in My BFF, “Masaya po ako dahil kami ulit ang magkasama at magtatawagang BFF as in best friends forever sa show namin.”

Joining Jillian and Mona are two of GMA’s talented artists and one of the favorite loveteam icons in the 80s - Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs. Manilyn as Lyn and Janno as Christian, who will work together for the first time in a drama series on Philippine TV, are both ecstatic to star in MY BFF which they consider their reunion project after so many years.

Manilyn shares that she is very pleased that her reunion project with Janno is fit for the whole family, “Ibang klase yung concept kasi iikot sa friendship ng dalawang bata na yung isa ay buhay, at yung isa ay babalik at mabubuhay para bantayan yung isa. Basta, may comedy, drama at fantasy na perfect ingredients sa mga pambatang soap opera.”

Janno likewise reveals that he is very thrilled to work with Manilyn and he believes that their chemistry on screen is still there.

“Ako kasi, feeling ko sa career ko, big deal si Manilyn for me. Kasi, nakilala ako dahil kay Manilyn. Nag-start ako, sikat na siya nun. So, noong nag-pair kami, artista na siya no'n bago 'ko. So, unang pasok ko, loveteam namin. Kumbaga, naghihintay ako ng magandang project. At ito, noong kinuwento sa akin ang story, 'Okay ‘to, pangfamily. Tapos 'yung mga eksena, nandoon pa rin ang chemistry, 'yung batuhan namin.”

Joining the cast are Rez Cortez as Jessie, Lavender’s domineering father; Mr. Pen Medina as Lolo Gerry, Lyn’s groovy father; Valerie Concepcion as Lavender, a single mom of two kids who wants Christian to be the father of her children; Ms. Irma Adlawan as Tonying, Lolo Gerry’s bestfriend; Leandro Baldemor as Patrick, Lyn’s high school bestfriend; Jaypee de Guzman as Tolits; Via Antonio as Mindy, Lyn’s bestfriend; Hiro Peralta as Baron, Lavender’s nerdy brother; Mariel Pamintuan as Kim, Baron’s friend; Miggs Cuaderno as Red, Lavender’s spoiled son; Isabel Frial as Blue Jasmine, Lavender’s arrogant daughter; Angel Satsumi as Giselle and Jen-jen Chubb as Tiana, the bullies at Rachel’s school.

In the series, Chelsea and Rachel’s friendship is strengthened by how Chelsea partners with Rachel to discover ways to bring back the sparkle in the relationship of Rachel’s estranged parents, Christian and Lyn.

Unknown to Rachel, her bestfriend Chelsea whom she has come to love as family is actually a ghost. Chelsea still hasn’t crossed over and chooses to remain in the mortal world with the goal of reuniting Rachel’s family.

Chelsea and Rachel embark on a journey that will teach them the value of forgiving and loving unconditionally.

Chelsea as a ghost, will be relatable to the kids, who are oftentimes unseen and misconstrued. Her love for Rachel will defy and challenge the very meaning of life and existence.

Under the direction of Roderick Lindayag, MY BFF likewise emphasizes our faith and confidence in having a dependable best friend whom we also consider as family.

MY BFF is another original creation of the GMA Drama group under the supervision of Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV Lilybeth G. Rasonable; Vice President for Drama Redgie A. Magno; Assistant Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy; Program Manager Ali Marie Nokom-Dedicatoria, and Executive Producer Joy Lumboy-Pili.

The creative team is composed of Creative Director, Jun Lana; Creative Head, Jake Tordesillas; Creative Consultant and Concept Creator, Agnes Gagelonia-Uligan; and Maribel G. Ilag as Headwriter.
