Singer-songwriter Jopper Ril performed his original love song 'Tunay' on Spotlight Music Sessions today, November 24. He revealed the song was inspired by one of the hottest love teams in 2015.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, Jopper shared that he was inspired by the love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, known as AlDub. He also revealed that he wrote the song to join an AlDub songwriting competition on Eat Bulaga.

“And then, matagal-tagal na e, actually na-release siya five years after, na-release na siya, 2020,” he shared.

The Pop, RnB, and Soul singer also revealed how happy he was when the song came out, and described it as a song about love at first sight.

“'Yun ang ibig sabihin ng 'Tunay.' 'pag-ibig ko sa'yo'y tunay, 'wag mo sanang pagdudahan,' so very honest 'yung lyrics,” he said.

Even with the numerous love songs he wrote, including 'Tunay,' Jopper admitted that he has never had a girlfriend before. “I think love is an inspiration kasi it inspires me as well sa songwriting abilities ko rin kasi more on love songs ako e.”

When asked what song does he dream of writing, Jopper answered, “Balak ko gumawa ng parang something na 'We Are the World,' lahat ng artists sama-sama.”

“Although marami na ding ganung kanta, pero gusto ko ring gumawa ng version ko. Like ako mismo ang nagsulat tapos ipapakanta ko sa mga favorite kong artists at sa mga kaibigan ko ring artists,” he explained.
