Yayo Aguila says her 'Firefly' character is 'different' from her previous roles

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

For more than four decades, Yayo Aguila has worn numerous hats as an actress in movies and TV series. But according to her, her character in Firefly is "something different."

In Firefly, the official entry of GMA Pictures to the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival, Yayo plays the role Carmen, the loving wife of Mang Louie (Epy Quizon) who's been longing to be reunited with her husband.

"Actually, nung nabasa ko pa lang 'yung script, tuwang-tuwa ako kasi, siyempre, nanay role. Alam mo naman, 'yun 'yung favorite role ko," she said in an interview with GMANetwork.com.

"Pero this is something different kasi hindi ko naman directly anak dito si Tonton, which is portrayed by Euwenn.

Although Yayo has played several mother roles in film and TV, she said that Firefly will remain close to her heart because, for her, it is one of the most memorable films she has made.

For Yayo, Firefly is a film that gives hope, like seeing light at the end of a tunnel.

Aside from Yayo, Firefly stars Alessandra De Rossi and Euwenn Mikaell alongside Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Cherry Pie Picache, Epy Quizon, and Max Collins. Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes also has a special participation in the movie.

Firefly will be shown in cinemas nationwide beginning December 25 as part of the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival.
