South Korean actor Seo Kang Joon is in Manila to promote his drama 'Are You Human?' which will be shown in GMA Network.He is also gearing for his first Philippine fan meeting called The Last Charm, happening on May 25 at The New Frontier Theater.
When asked what is his impression of the Filipinos, Kang Joon said, “I just landed in the Philippines today, but my impression is that everyone is so beautiful in the Philippines and very friendly.”
He hopes fans can relate to his two characters in 'Are You Human?'- Nam Shin and his android version Nam Shin III. “I just want the Filipino fans to relate to the characters because they have a lot of human characters they can relate to.”
Kang Joon humbly said, “In all honesty, I don't think of myself as an international star yet, but I think that title really humbles me and I just really want to thank everyone of you for considering me as an international star, and that really motivates me to do my best in every project possible.”
He also said Korean dramas are not made just for Korean viewers but for international fans as well. “It's no longer just for the Korean fans, it's also for the Filipino fans and other international fans.”
When asked what genre he would choose if his life story would be made into a film, Seo Kang Joon said it would be a documentary featuring a guy doing his best to be part of society and eventually becomes an actor who loves what he is doing.
His most charming asset? “According to my fans, it's my brown eyes. Internally, I think the best side of me is honesty,” Kang Joon said.
Kang Joon impressed his fans by speaking in Tagalog and knowing the two meanings of the word “mahal.” He recited some of the phrases he knows, “Kumusta ka? Mahal--it means expensive.”
He said he feels lucky he got the chance to have a fan meeting in Manila so he can finally see his Filipino fans. “I've never been to the Philippines before, this is my first time, a huge reason for me doing this is because I've never met the Filipino fans so through this opportunity I can get to know them.”
Host Patricia Tumulak gushed over how lovely Seo Kang Joon's brown eyes are. "Sobrang brown ng eyes niya, I really like his brown eyes."
Kapuso boy group JBK was also present during the press con and serenaded the audience with their song “Maibalik.”
