By Ron Lim

It's just the first day of movie screenings for the annual Metro Manila Film Festival, but it looks like GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs' film, Firefly, is already catching the attention of people.

GMA Pictures just posted a photo of the Firefly poster at a local mall with a “Sold Out” sign placed on it. According to the post on X, formerly Twitter, the mall is SM Fairview and all five screenings for the day have already sold out.

A cursory look at the trending #FireflyMovie hashtag shows netizens other locations where the movie is close to selling out. Netizen @MBdemigod posted screenshots showing available seats at SM Mall of Asia, while also pointing out that the 7:00 p.m. screening for the movie is already sold out.

Moviegoers have also begun clamoring for more cinemas to screen Firefly, like netizen @charleneandreah who emphasized that people in the provinces also deserve to watch the movie starring Alessandra de Rossi and Euwenn Mikaell.

Aside from Alessandra and Euwenn, other stars in the movie include Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Cherry Pie Picache, Epi Quizon, Yayo Aguila, and Max Collins. Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes also makes an appearance in the movie.

The film is directed by Zig Dulay, whose previous work includes the hit TV series Maria Clara at Ibarra and the internationally-acclaimed films Paglipay and Black Rainbow.

Meanwhile, GMA Public Affairs Senior AVP Angeli Atienza, who is also the showrunner of some of GMA Public Affairs' most-awarded programs, wrote the movie's screenplay.

Award-winning cinematographer Neil Daza further highlights the film's cinematic masterpiece.
