Mark Tuan performs in Manila, updates GOT7 comeback

By Bianca Geli

GOT7 main rapper and visual artist Mark Tuan enchanted his fans with his "The Other Side" concert on January 14, 2024 held at the Skydome of SM North EDSA.

The American-born Taiwanese singer is on his "The Other Side" Asia Tour to promote his solo album of the same title.

"I just want to explain 'The Other Side'real quick," Mark told his Filipino Ahgase.

"I've been performing onstage with GOT7 for so many years, it's been 10 years now."

"You guys have seen the good moments, you guys have seen us always happy, and I'm sure there were times we couldn't hide our emotions."

"The Other Side is speaking of that part of us, that part of me. I just wanted to kind of get my feelings out for a little bit for this album."

"Even though onstage it may seem perfect, we're still going through every single emotion you guys go through."

"That's what The Other Side is all about. If you guys can relate and just take a little bit of our song and feel the same thing, I feel like that's the main purpose of this album."

"It means a lot that you guys are here tonight for my first tour."

As for updates on the much-anticipated comeback of GOT7, Mark shared, ""We're still GOT7, and I hope one day...one day."

He continued to say, "I appreciate the support you guys have shown us. Hopefully, we'll come back as GOT7. But until then, I need you guys to hold on a little bit, okay? You guys can hold onto your lightsticks until we come back."

Mark began his concert with the song "After Hours" and performed his songs including "Change Up," "Save Me," "far away," "Never Gonna Come Down," and ended his night with the track "imysm" among others.

He was also presented a nostalgic fan project from his Pinoy Ahgase, expressing their support in his solo endeavors.

The 30-year-old singer also didn't back down from the Aghases, who chanted “Shot puno! Shot puno!”

Of course, Mark joined the fun and didn't hesitate taking a shot of the cup of water in front of him.

The “shot puno” meme has been circulating in the K-pop fandom since 2022 after fellow GOT7 member BamBam used it in a reply to a fan on Twitter.

Mark debuted as a member of GOT7 in 2014. After debuting under JYP Entertainment in 2014, Mark and his fellow members Jay B, Jinyoung, Jackson, Bambam, Youngjae, and Yugyeom first visited the Philippines as a group back in 2015 for their first fan meeting.

They have headlined two group concerts in the country: “The Flight Log: Turbulence in Manila” show in 2017, and their “Keep Spinning Tour in Manila” in 2019.

Days before his concert, Mark was spotted on vacation at the famous Daranak Falls in Tanay, Rizal.
