TWICE releases emotional MV teaser for 'I Got You'

By Hazel Jane Cruz

Following the release of their concept photos, South Korean girl group TWICE finally dropped the teaser for the music video pre-release single “I Got You” at midnight KST on January 31.

Unlike the previous teaser videos and photos where they were seen in a forest, the K-pop girl group was on a deserted island surrounded by rock formations and mountains.

The teaser first showed a montage of the seashore before panning to members who strike a pose on top of rock formations.

It was followed by shots of members sitting together, side by side, before showing a clip of them dancing together on the sand.

TWICE also accompanied the MV teaser with pop instrumental music from “I Got You.” The members even harmonized toward the end of the video with Jeongyeon singing the line “Just like we always do” - the same sentence shown in their mood film for With You-th.

The members were also seen hugging and comforting one another, mirroring the concepts from their upcoming mini-album, With You-th, about togetherness and unity as a group.

For the last part of the teaser, TWICE is hand in hand with red strings wrapped around their pinky fingers.

ONCEs speculate that this is based on the Japanese legend about the red thread/string of fate.

The legend of the red thread of fate (according to https://www.faena.com/aleph) explains that two people are connected in life by a red thread attached to their pinky fingers and are destined to find each other later. Their path toward one another may get tangled, contracted, or stretched, but they are still bound to find one another and make their own story.

Their addition of the red thread of fate made ONCEs emotional, on top of their amazement regarding the cinematography and production of the teaser.

It was produced by Kudo Works, the same company that worked with Jungkook and Usher for their performance video of “Standing Next to You” and MISAMO's “Do Not Touch” music video.

“I Got You” is scheduled to be released on February 2, 2024 ahead of their 13th mini-album With You-th which should be dropped on the 23rd of February, 2024.
