K-pop girl group 2NE1 ahead of 15th debut anniversary

2nd generation K-pop fans, especially Blackjacks, were taken by storm when Sandara Park updated her Instagram account with a photo of her and her co-members of the South Korean girl group 2NE1, months before their debut anniversary on May 17.

In the photo uploaded on February 8, Dara was seen posing with 2NE1's main vocalist Park Bom, the main dancer Minzy, and leader CL on the ceiling of an elevator.

Sandara Park also wrote on her X account (formerly Twitter), “So much chatting. I was happy.”

In a separate post by Park Bom, she shared that the group had a hearty meal that warmed the hearts of fans.

Blackjacks and other K-pop fans are happy that 2NE1 always finds a way to bond and catch up with each other despite their disbandment in 2016. Especially now that they are in their separate entertainment companies with personal schedules to follow.

Park Bom is signed under D-Nation Entertainment, while Sandara Park works under ABYSS Entertainment. Meanwhile, Minzy started her own record label company MZ Entertainment in 2022, and CL also works under her own company Very Cherry founded in the same year.

CL said in an interview with Billboard that, “...we definitely try to meet once a year. And we promised ourselves that a couple [of] years ago.”

Because of the photos, fans were hoping for a new music and concert tour from the group.

2NE1 last performed as a group in a surprise appearance at Coachella 2022, seven years after their disbandment.

They became part of CL's set at the 88rising Head in the Clouds Forever stage where they sang their 2011 hit song “I Am The Best”.

There are no words yet from the members or their companies whether they are gearing up for a comeback or special project for their 15th debut anniversary, but fans remain hopeful and supportive of whatever comes ahead.
