Jeff Moses

Jeff Moses is part of 'Under A Piaya Moon,' which also won Best Pictures.

Jeff Moses was hailed Best Actor at the first awards night of Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival.

The Sparkle star clinched the award for his role in Kurt Soberano's Under A Piaya Moon.

Jeff tied with veteran actor Carlos Siguion-Reyna, who also won for his role in Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo's Pushcart Tales.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, Jeff said he's taking the award as a sign to continue working hard on his craft.

“Ito po yung sign na mas lalo ko pa pong pagsisipagan sa trabaho. Since I love my job, I see myself in the industry na tatagal talaga 'ko kasi kahit maraming workload, kino-consider ko po siya as blessing. Lahat po ng work na dumarating sa'kin. Although napapagod ako physically, pero sobrang… fulfilled po ako lagi at the end of the day,” he mused.

Jeff prepared a lot for his role in the movie, including learning Hiligaynon and baking.

“I'm happy kasi sobrang willing po ako matuto and I'm very grateful sa mga taong tumulong sa'kin,” he continued.

In his acceptance speech, Jeff expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped him.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa Panginoon for making this dream come true. Dati di ko po inakala na magiging aktor ako. Nanggaling ako sa isang simpleng probinsiya. I'm proud of my province. Nanggaling ako sa simpleng city lamang, nangangarap na maging aktor,” he said.

Jeff also thanked his director, his co-actors, and his acting coaches, Ana Feleo and Ann Villegas.

Under A Piaya Moon took home the Pinakapanalong Pelikula Award or Best Pictures for the night.

The movie tells the story of a young man in 1980s Bacolod City, who aspires to continue the family legacy by winning an inter-city pastry competition with the help of his feuding grandfather and grandmother.
