Australian singer Lenka takes action against "Selos" singer Shaira.
After sharing laughs and happiness on social media, Shaira Moro's hit song "Selos" was removed from all streaming platforms after Australian singer-songwriter Lenka Kripac took legal action due to copyright concerns.
Shaira's official record label, AHS channel, released a statement on Tuesday, March 20, to address the concerns about copyright infringement.
“On behalf of our artist, Shaira, AHS Channel would like to convey our heartfelt apologies to all those who have enjoyed listening to the song,” they said.
Following their sincere apologies, AHS Channel said that they voluntarily took down “Selos” on all streaming platforms as they are “still making arrangements with [regard] to the legality of the publication of the song.”
The record label also mentioned their effort to secure a cover license to make “Selos” an official cover of Lenka's “Trouble is a Friend.”
AHS Channel took down Shaira's "Selos" after a fan informed Lenka on her Instagram that Shaira was “claiming” and “earning” from her song.
The Australian singer assured the fans and said that they “have taken legal action” on it.
Meanwhile, in its statement, the AHS Channel thanked the fans who enjoyed and supported Shaira's music.
“To those who have been entertained by Shaira's cover song, we are truly grateful to you for opening your hearts to a song that we once only made public for the sake of entertainment,” they said.
The record label also added: “We certainly did not expect that it [would] become this big to a point where Shaira [would] be known as the 'Queen of Bangsamoro Pop.' We could not be prouder.”
Fans were saddened by the news and said the incident “was the end of an era.” However, AHS Channel reassured that Shaira will release an original music soon.
The Bangsamoro singer also assured fans that she is doing well following the incident through a Facebook post. She said, "Sa mga totoong kaibigan at concern po saakin, Alhamdulillah okay na okay po ako." she also added, "Maging Masaya lang po tayo sa mga Buhay natin, Ramadhan Mubarak"
Shaira also recently released “Forever Single (Walang Jowa)” available on all streaming platforms. She is also active on TikTok at @shairamorosinger where she posts covers and live performances.
