(Updated) Jennylyn Mercado leads Kapuso winners in Yahoo Celebrity Awards

Rhodora X star Jennylyn Mercado led Kapuso artists who blazed in brand new categories at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014 late Friday night, July 18.
Powered by 399,369 votes, Jennylyn was declared Female Kontrabida of the Year for her portrayal of Rhodora, a meek girl with Dissociative Identity Disorder, and her sinister alter ego, Roxanne, in the hit GMA primetime series Rhodora X.
Though not present during the awards night, Kapuso Pop Superstar Julie Anne San Jose was commended for her song Bakit Ngayon, which was named Song of the Year. The song garnered 280,784 votes.
Jake Vargas and Bea Binene were proclaimed Celebrity Couple of the Year on the strength of 272,406 votes.
Jake and Bea bested power couples Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes and ABS-CBN’s Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz, Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano, and Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo.
Garnering a total of 238,905 votes, the Celebrity Family of the Year was awarded to the Padilla family, proving that performing and entertaining runs in the family.
Robin Padilla, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, Rommel Padilla, BB Gandanghari and Kapuso actor RJ Padilla went on stage to receive the award for the family.
The 2014 Yahoo Celebrity Awards night was held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and was flanked by television and film's biggest names to celebrate the industry's most popular this year.
It was hosted by Maxene Magalona and Robi Domingo, with performances by Maja Salvador, Jay-R, Elmo Magalona and Q-York, Wolfgang, Gary and Gab Valenciano, Parokya ni Edgar, Spongecola, Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo.
A report by Startalk showed a very ecstatic Jennylyn Mercado being interviewed by the media after the awards.
“First time kong nanalo ng kontrabida award e,” she said.
Jennylyn was seen escorted by Rhodora X leading man and former beau Mark Herras. Their sweetness aroused much curiosity.
“Gusto lang naming ipakita sa lahat ng supporters at fans namin ni Mark na ‘yung relationship, ‘yung friendship namin talagang solid pa rin,” she clarified.
Jake and Bea thanked their fans for showing their love and making them win as Celebrity Couple of the Year.
Bea said, “We are very honored and thankful to all the fans and supporters who voted for us.“
