After the dazzling awards night of the 72nd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards last Sunday (May 26), netizens were surprised by the post of the son of veteran actress Eva Darren on social media.

Fernando de la Pena took to Facebook his complaint about his mother's experience at the ceremony. He detailed how the actress was excited to receive the invitation for the FAMAS, giving a chance to present a prestigious award along with veteran actor Mr. Tirso Cruz III. As she prepared thoroughly for the night, the actress put so much effort into enjoying the event, spending money and even going to the venue in the middle of inclement weather

However, despite her excitement and preparations, Eva left the event disappointed as she was suddenly replaced by a younger star without any explanation from the organizers.

In response, the FAMAS organization humbly acknowledged its mistake and posted on Facebook an apology.

"FAMAS would like to express its sincerest apologies to Miss Eva Darren, an icon in the Philippine Movie Industry and a professional actress whose career is indubitably worthy of emulation. She was part of the program in last night's Awards Night and was supposed to present Special Citations with Mr. Tirso Cruz III."

The organization explained the situation, citing that it was a live show with numerous guests involved. The sudden replacement occurred because they were unable to locate the veteran actress promptly. With no alternative, they decided to find a replacement to ensure the smooth flow of the program.

"This was indeed a setback in the live show and a negligence on the part of the team. Rest assured that this was not intentional and purely a misjudgment. The show is being streamed live and needed to be remedied right away. Hence, a replacement for Miss Darren was done last minute."

Acknowledging that a mere apology may not suffice, FAMAS concluded their statement, "We understand that an apology alone cannot undo the damage this might have caused Miss Darren but we are committed to make amends and rebuild her trust by a personal visit of the FAMAS Board to honor her stature, if she allows it."

Eva Darren is known for her remarkable performances in television and film. She has earned her status as an iconic actress through unforgettable roles in films such as Ang Pulubi (1969), Igorota (1968), and many more.

In addition to her notable film credits, Eva was also part of the cast of the television series Carmela, alongside Kapuso stars Alden Richards and Marian Rivera.
