Kapuso-starred Cinemalaya films, applauded at their gala night

The cinemas were jam-packed as viewers flocked to watch The Janitor and Mariquina, two of Cinemalaya films starring Kapuso artists.
In Dennis Trillo’s Instagram post, he is grateful that tickets were sold out in the first screening of The Janitor.
In this movie, Dennis plays the role of a suspended cop who was assigned to go after suspects in a bank robbery-massacre.
He said in an interview with Unang Hirit, “Masarap ‘yung pakiramdam na makagawa ng panibago, malayo dun sa palagi mong ginagawa. Para sa artista, isang malaking fullfilment ‘yun na matupad… ‘yung mga roles na 'di mo akalain na magagagawa mo pala.”
He also received praises from his co-star Alex Medina.
“Si Dennis, most of the time naka-eksena ko, sobrang happy ko, sobrang galing nila… For me the experience to sum it up, ‘yung movie is solid talaga. Sobrang solid,” he said.
Also received with much delight is Mariquina which featured a different Barbie Forteza.
“Para sa akin kasi… mabait ako pero hindi ako ‘yung typical na ginagawa ko sa TV na 'pag mabait, mabait talaga,” she said, describing her role as a young Imelda whose older character will be played by Mylene Dizon.
Director-actor Ricky Davao who co-starred with the young actress in the film only had positive comments about her.
He said, “Si Barbie is so professional. Alam niya ‘yung lines niya, alam niya lahat. ‘Yung mga nuances niya iba. Siguro talagang pinaghandaan niya ‘to.”
Other Kapuso stars in the Cinemalaya X films include Enzo Pineda, LJ Reyes, Chynna Ortaleza, Jak Roberto, Rocco Nacino, and Elmo Magalona.
