Janine welcomed select entertainment reporters and bloggers at the media conference of QCinema 2019 entry, 'Babae at Baril.' She was joined by the psycho-thriller film's writer and director, Rae Red.
In the movie, Janine portrays a saleslady whose everyday life is composed of an exhausting commute to home. All that is about to change when she finds a gun right at her doorstep.
The Kapuso actress takes pride for leading 'Babae at Baril' because it tackles true events in the life of a working woman, which is different to what she usually portrays on television.
Janine and Direk Rae believe that this film is a good way to promote woman empowerment.
The showbiz royalty revealed that portraying the lead role in an female-fronted action movie has been her dream project.
Direk Rae admitted that 'Babae at Baril' has a few subtle references to the 2019 American psychological thriller, 'Joker.' However, she quickly clarified that it has a very different take since 'Babae at Baril' was completely shot in the Philippines.
'Babae at Baril' is an entry to this year's QCinema International Film Festival's Asian Next Wave Competition. It will run from October 13-22, 2019.
