Cheryl Cole, Liam Payen, Bear

Cheryl Cole expressed her concern for Bear, eventually reading how the media exploited his father's death once he's able to.

English singer and TV personality Cheryl Cole, the mother of former One Direction member Liam Payne's son, Bear, expressed her grief about her son's father's passing, and slammed media outlets for making abhorrent reports and how the media exploited the singer's death.

On Instagram, Cheryl posted a black-and-white photo of Liam bonding with then baby Bear, and described his death as “indescribably painful” for her.

“As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being,” she wrote.

“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, brother, an uncle, a dear friend, and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again,” Cheryl added.

Cheryl then expressed her concern over the “abhorrent reports and media exploitation” about Liam they have seen, and how, once old enough, their son will be able to read them.

“What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days. It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in his future,” Cheryl wrote.

“I am begging you to consider what use some of these reports are serving, other than to cause further harm to everyone left behind picking up the pieces. Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them,” she continued.

In the end, she asked the public to give Liam “the little dignity he has left” and to let him finally rest in peace.

Liam tragically passed away on Wednesday, October 16 after he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On October 18, his former bandmates in One Direction expressed their devastation about the passing of their fallen member and paid him tribute through their social media posts.
