From being part of the Sugod Bahay Gang in Eat Bulaga, Valerie Weigmann now takes on a different challenge as she makes it as one of the official candidates of Miss World 2014 Philippines.

As this is an entirely new experience for her, Valerie is excited about this chapter in her life.

“It is such an amazing experience for me since it’s my first time to join [a beauty pageant]. Nag-e-enjoy naman ako sa lahat ng nakikilala ko, 'yung mga kasama ko. Natutuwa ako na meron akong bagong mga kaibigan” she said.

Most importantly, she is driven by her desire to spread the word about the cause she supports.

“[Excited din ako] to raise awareness [about] my advocacy which is [playing] street music [for] our indigenous brothers and sisters. 'Yung [advocacy ko] 'yung nag-push sa akin to join,” she shared.

For Valerie, the pageant can help give her a wider audience who will listen to her and hopefully help with the cause she is representing.

“[Miss World 2014 Philippines espouses] beauty in giving so for me, nung nakita ko 'yung impact ng Miss World, dun ako nag-decide. Gusto ko talaga sumali para mag-create ng awareness para sa aking advocacy na helping indigenous communities in the Philippines,” she added.

A natural on stage and in front of people, being a candidate for the prestigious pageant is not difficult for Valerie.

“Nag-e-enjoy ako sa mga bagong experience. Alam [niyo] naman ako, very open sa lahat,” she said.

The Miss World 2014 Philippines coronation night will be held on October 12 in the Mall of Asia Arena.
