Kiray Celis won a new international award!
Kiray Celis has achieved another career milestone as she took home a new accolade from an international film festival.
The Sparkle actress-comedian clinched the Best Performance in a Comedy Award at the Ima Wa Ima Asian International Film Festival in Osaka, Japan for her role in the film Malditas in Maldives.
In an Instagram post, Kiray expressed her gratitude for winning the award.
"[M]araming, maraming salamat po. Para sa inyo po ito. Sana soon, mapanuod niyo na sa Pilipinas ang movie namin para malaman niyo po kung bakit proud na proud kami sa pelikula namin na 'to," she said.
Kiray also thanked the team behind the film, including their director Njel de Mesa and her co-stars, Arci Munoz and Janelle Tee.
This is not the first time Kiray has been recognized for her performance in Malditas in Maldives.
In May, Kiray was hailed Best Versatile Comedienne at the Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival in Nagoya, Japan.
Kiray also won the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Wu Wei Taipei International Film Festival last September.
