Dennis Trillo shares throwback picture as 2004 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Supporting Actor

Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo recently took a heartfelt stroll down memory lane, revisiting the milestone that marked the beginning of his impressive career as a versatile actor.

In a recent Instagram post, Dennis shared a throwback photo from the moment he won his very first award at the prestigious Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The actor was honored with the Best Supporting Actor award for his standout role in the 2004 film Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita. In the film, Dennis portrayed the challenging role of Ignacio "Igna" Basa, a transgender woman who falls in love with a Japanese soldier.

With gratitude in his heart, Dennis captioned the post "My very first movie, my very first award," as he fondly recalled the experience.

His followers, including fans and fellow celebrities, were quick to flood the comment section with congratulatory messages and words of encouragement. Among them was Green Bones co-star Iza Calzado, who wrote,, "I still remember this! Congratulations on your best actor award! So happy for you, Dennis!"

Other Kapuso stars, including Allen Ansay and Carla Abellana, also expressed their love and support for Dennis by reacting to the post with heart emojis.

Alongside his nostalgic Instagram post, Dennis had the opportunity to reconnect with his Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita co-star Judy Ann Santos in the recent 2024 MMFF awards night.

In an interview, Dennis recalled his first major break at the 2004 MMFF when he was fortunate enough to work with the actress and talented creators of the film. "Noong MMFF 2004, pinalad po akong makasali sa pelikulang Aishite Imasu 1941, isang pelikulang isinulat si Mr. Ricky Lee sa direksyon ni Joel Lamangan, kung saan nakatrabaho ko si Miss Judy Ann Santos. Napaka swerte para sa isang bagito sa showbiz, na makatrabaho silang lahat para sa aking kauna unahang pelikula," he shared.

The reunion between the two stars was a heartwarming reminder of how far they've come since their early collaboration. Judy Ann recently won Best Actress for her powerful performance in the 2024 MMFF entry Espantaho.

Meanwhile, Dennis recently won 2024 MMFF Best Actor for his outstanding performance in the inspirational-drama film Green Bones. He played the role of Domingo Zamora, a notorious criminal who's charged for murdering his sister and niece. His portrayal of the complex character earned him widespread recognition, among celebrities and netizens.

Green Bones also marked a special reunion between Dennis and National Artist Ricky Lee, who had written as well Aishite Imasu 1941 back in 2004. Both expressed their appreciation for the chance to work together once again. Ricky Lee fondly recalled their earlier collaboration, " Si Dennis Trillo, nakatrabahoko sa Aishite Imasu (1941)," Ricky said. "Na award si Dennis (noon). Sa akin nanggaling, ako nagsulat [ng pelikula]. Kaya kanina nagkamayan kami ni Dennis eh parang 'yung cycle eh. So nice working with him at iba-iba role niya dun sa Aishtemasu (hanggang ngayon sa Green Bones)."
