Aside from winning the trophy for Best Actor at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, Dennis Trillo also won a monetary prize of P100,000 cash which he has chosen to donate to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

In an interview aired during the January 5 episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Dennis shared his reason for donating his cash prize.

“'Yung kuwento po ng Green Bones, para naman po talaga sa kanila," Dennis told KMJS host Jessica Soho.

He also revealed his wish if he had a chance to write on the fictional Tree of Hope in Green Bones, inspired by an actual wish tree in General Trias City Jail where PDLs can write their wishes.

Dennis said, "Matapos na ang giyera sa ibang bansa, giyera sa mga sarili natin, giyera sa pamilya, giyera sa kahit saan. Kapag walang conflict, mas masaya 'di ba? Mas peaceful."

Dennis's road manager, Jan Enriquez, detailed how Dennis and his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, donated the PhP100,000 cash prize to PDLs.

According to a social media post from Jan, he was tasked to claim the PhP100,000 cash prize on behalf of Dennis during the awards night, but Jennylyn Mercado told him to donate it instead to PDLs.

“Agad-agad ko itong inabot kay JC Rubio na siyang may konek sa grupo ng mga PDL kung saan hango o inspired ang Tree of Hope,” Jan wrote in his caption.

JC Rubio, is the senior program manager for I-Witness and Kara Docs, a creative producer for GMA Pictures, and the concept creator of Green Bones.

In his post, Jan said there is an actual Tree of Hope at a facility for PDLs. "Doon po gagamitin ang 100K para matupad ang mga munti nilang hiling,” he said.

Jan added the cash prize of Team Green Bones during their guesting on Family Feud was also donated to PDLs.
