Do you want a relationship that stands the test of time? Cute couple Drew Arellano and Iya Villania who were boyfriend and girlfriend for ten years before tying the knot last January, have a few relationship beliefs and practices that couples young and old can learn from.
Kapuso host Drew Arellano discloses a few.
1. Communication should be a priority
No matter how many compliments they get for the longevity of their relationship, Drew admits that it has a couple of booboos, but they make up for it with a lot of talking and understanding.
“It wasn’t really the perfect relationship from day one but I think it was the communication rule. Since day one kasi, we talked about how communication will play a vital role. So may tampuhan man or whatever, [may] communication and open-mindedness,” he said.
2. Lead a healthy lifestyle
Opposites may attract, but not in all cases. One of the similarities of Drew and Iya greatly contribute to their dynamic.
“The constant priority to stay fit [helps us]. When you exercise, after that you feel good. Eh what if both of you do that, 'di ba? Ibig sabihin good vibes kayo,” he noted.
3. Don’t let the day end with any of you angry
Couple fights keep the relationship healthy, but according to Drew, sleeping on your anger could not work well for anyone.
“Sometimes it’s just one word and one can be oversensitive about it. Sometimes it’s the tactlessness ng isang tao and I think it’s just a normal thing but importante, hindi matatapos 'yung gabi na hindi namin pag-uusapan [yung problema]. Usually ako [lalapit at lalambingin siya, saying] ‘I love you,’” he shared.
