Tom Rodriguez thought he’d be married by now

Tom Rodriguez from a few years ago imagined that by this year, he would already be married.

 

“When I was younger, I thought [I would’ve been settled at] 26. [I’m 27] now and that’s not the case,” he said.

 

What he learned from his expectation not aligning with reality is to let some things fall into place. He said that at this point in his life, he’d rather swim towards where the current leads.

 

“Siguro [things like marriage], you don’t plan anymore. I tried planning it, it didn’t work out,” he said.

 

Tom firmly believes that if you obsessively plan everything out, things don’t go the way you want them to.

 

“When you try to plan it so hard, ang nangyayari, [God could] take it away from you or it slips out of your hands. Kaya kailangan hintayin mo na lang 'yung tamang time niya, 'yung tamang blessing,” he shared.

 

To surrender to God’s plan for him has done Tom wonders and he’s proud to say that he wouldn’t let things go any other way.

 

“Just like everything that [is happening] here, not even just love life. [Pati] family life, even in career, everything has had its own time na talagang may ups and downs,” he stated.

 

Things aren’t perfect but Tom is comforted in knowing that he’s working towards the person he wants to be and the life he wants to have.

 

“All of us would like to have that happy ending. Everything that’s going on in my life, I’m happy. I’m happy with life, happy in general,” he declared.
