Born on June 3, 1945, Ramon Jacinto, or simply known by his initials RJ, is an entrepreneur, musician, and radio personality.
At the age of 15, RJ Jacinto set up his first venture, RJ Enterprises, which produced and released numerous record hits of his school band, "RJ and the Riots."
In 1962, RJ Jacinto founded rock-and-roll radio station, DZRJ. He started operating the station in the backyard of his house together with his classmates from Ateneo De Manila University.
Aside from broadcasting, RJ has built other businesses in the music scene, including music lounge and restaurant RJ Bistro. Established in 1986, RJ Bistro offers live music entertainment that plays the greatest hits from the '50s to modern music. It is located at the basement of the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
In 1988, RJ Jacinto embarked on a guitar-making business, RJ Guitar Center, which offers RJ Guitar models and handles distributorship of Taylor, Traben, and Michael Kelly Guitars and Belcat products in the Philippines. Today, it has 17 branches, an online store, and over 100 dealers nationwide.
As a response to the increasing interest of their patrons to learn more about music, RJ Jacinto established RJ Academy of Music (RJAM) in 1994. It is the school division of RJ Guitar Center initially licensed by the Music Institute in Los Angeles, California. It offers various music courses such as guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and voice.
RJ Jacinto has released a number of studio albums to date including 'The Guitarman,' 'RJ Duets,' 'Fine As Wine Instrumentals,' 'Romancing RJ,' 'Kundiman Ni Guitarman,' to name a few.
At 74, RJ Jacinto continues to manage his numerous businesses and is still able to perform weekly at RJ Bistro for "Thank God It's RJ!" He also hosts RJ Sunday Jam in RJ100.3FM on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
