The award for Best Actress is always one of the most anticipated in any awards show.
It is no different for this year's Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) which have announced the nominees for its annual FAMAS Awards last December 6.
Among the nominees for Best Actress is Kapuso star Janine Gutierrez for her role in Rae Red's movie Babae at Baril.
Janine previously won Best Actress at the Gaward Urian Awards and at the QCinema International Film Festival for her portrayal in the film.
The film also brought director Rae Red also the awards for Best Director at the Gaward Urian Awards and at the QCinema International Film Festival.
For the 2020 FAMAS Awards, Babae at Baril is vying for a total of eight awards, including Best Production Design, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Scoring, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Achievement in Direction, and the most coveted Best Picture.
It is tied with Jun Robles Lana's Kalel, 15 which is also nominated for eight awards.
Also nominated for Best Actress is Jean Garcia for her role as a gun for hire in Watch Me Kill.
This is her third nomination for Best Actress for her role in the film, the previous two being from the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino and the Gawad Urian Awards.
Kathryn Bernardo is also vying for Best Actress for her role as an overseas Filipino worker or OFW in highest grossing Philippine film Hello, Love, Goodbye.
Her leading man in the movie, Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards is also nominated for Best Actor for this year's FAMAS Awards.
The 2020 FAMAS Awards will be held on December 20 in a digital ceremony which will be streamed via various social media and streaming platforms.
