Born to Beat: Get to know the K-pop boy group BTOB

BTOB

BTOB is a South Korean boy group formed in 2012 under Cube Entertainment. The active members consist of Seo Eun-kwang, Lee Min-hyuk, Lee Chang-sub, and Peniel Shin. Other members Im Hyun-sik and Yook Sung-jae are currently serving in the military and are set to be discharged in November.

Eunkwang

Seo Eun-kwang, known by his stage name Eunkwang, is the leader and main vocalist of the group. He was born in Seoul, South Korea on November 22, 1990.

Eunkwang released his first solo album 'FoRest: Entrance' on June 8, 2020, along with the music video for the title track "No One Knows."

Minhyuk

Lee Min-hyuk, commonly known as Minhyuk or Huta, is the lead rapper, dancer, and vocalist of the group. He was born in Seoul, South Korea on November 29, 1990.

Minhyuk released his first album 'Hutazone' on January 15, 2019, under the stage name Huta. He also starred in Korean dramas: 'A New Leaf,' 'Sweet, Savage Family,' 'Nightmare Teacher,' and 'Unexpected Heroes.'

Changsub

Lee Chang-sub, know by his stage name Changsub, is the lead vocalist of the group. He was born in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea on February 26, 1991.

He was the first member to debut his own solo album titled 'bpm 82.5' in 2017. He sang the OST "Falling" for the Korean drama 'A Poem A Day.'

Peniel

Shin Dong-geun, known by his stage name Peniel, is the lead rapper and vocalist of the group. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA on March 10, 1993.

Peniel is allergic to watermelon and cats. He suffers from alopecia or hair loss that's why he shaved his hair. He is currently one of the hosts of DIVE Studios' Get Real podcast along with Ashley Choi and JUNNY.

Sungjae

Yook Sung-jae, known by his stage name Sungjae, is the maknae and the face of the group. He was born in Yongin, Gyeonggi, South Korea on May 2, 1995.

Sungjae released his first solo album 'Yook O'Clock,' along with the music video for the title track "Come With The Wind" on March 2, 2020.

Hyunsik

Im Hyun-sik, commonly known as Hyunsik, is the main dancer of the group, He was born in Seoul, South Korea on March 7, 1992.

Hyunsik released his first solo album 'Rendez-vous' on October 14, 2019, and had a solo concert the following month.

4U: OUTSIDE

BTOB released their comeback album '4U:OUTSIDE' along with the music video for the title track "Outsider" on August 30, 2021.

Their special album contains six tracks, including "Outsider" followed by "Dreamer," "Can't Breathe," "Traveler," "Waiting 4 U," and "Finale."

Outsider

"Outsider" is described as a Neo Funk/Neo Soul track. According to BTOB, the term "outsider" in the song is to escape from the repetitive pattern of life and set yourself free to be stronger and realize your self-worth.

On September 22, 2021, Kapuso singer and host Thea Astley revealed that BTOB is set to appear on GMA's upcoming podcast 'Behind The Song.'

On September 23, 2021, GMA Network dropped BTOB's first Kapuso Exclusives video. In this video, Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Changsub, and Peniel played the hilarious game of 'Would You Rather.'

Melody is the official fandom name of BTOB. They named their fans 'Melody' because BTOB "means 'Born to Beat' and the only thing that goes well with the musical beat is melody." Their fandom color is slow blue.
