Kapuso teen royalty Jake Vargas added another feather in his cap. The Pepito Manaloto star bagged the award for ‘Best Rising Star’ in the 48th WorldFest-Houston International Film & Video Festival held in Texas, USA.

His stellar performance in the Cinemalaya movie Asintado (Between The Eyes) as a drug lord’s courier earned him the respect of the award-giving body.

In addition, Jake’s movie also won the Gold Award in the Children category. The movie was directed by acclaimed director Louie Ignacio.

Meanwhile, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos' film Ekstra is recognized for Best Foreign Feature Film in the said awards.

WorldFest was founded over 50 years ago as Cinema Arts, an International Film Society that was established in August 1961. It is the oldest Independent Film & Video Festival in the world.

Congratulations to our Kapuso Jake and Direk Louie!
