Rita Daniela takes comedy seriously

By AEDRIANNE ACAR

Kapuso singer Rita Daniela is a jack-of-all-trades. Aside from being part of the stellar cast of Let the Love Begin, the Pop Star Kids grand champion is busy promoting her self-titled album under GMA Records, which showcases her edgy and fierce style of music.

But, Rita did not stop there!

She is also a recurring character in the weekly sitcom Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay na Kuwento as Lea, the nerdy classmate of Chito Manaloto (Jake Vargas).

The talented performer revealed to GMANetwork.com how she handles the different projects given to her, especially her role on Pepito.

Rita explained, “Inaalam ko ‘yung character ko para ma-satisfy ko sila kung ano gusto nilang makita, ano gusto nilang gawin ko,”

The singer added that she and her brother are huge fans of Michael V and she took the opportunity to consult with the comedy genius on how she will tackle her character as Lea.

“So nakipag-chat ako sa kanya (Michael V), 'yun talagang usap. [Tinanong ko] 'Ano po ba ‘yung ganito?' Sobrang na-amaze ako [sa kanya] talaga.”

Rita was also impressed on how the team Pepito Manaloto adopted the practice of script reading before the start of any shoot. By doing script reading, Rita believes it helps foster camaraderie among the cast and crew.

“Kahit nag-re-rehearse kami, nag-re-reading kami sa mga soaps, sila lang (Pepito Manaloto) gumagawa ng ganun (script reading) and mas maganda 'yun kasi siyempre parang nag-u-unite kayo eh. Alam mo ‘yung nangyayari.”
