Cris Villonco shares her thoughts on the ‘Bituing Walang Ningning’ controversy

By AEDRIANNE ACAR

Former Ang Lihim ni Annasandra actress Cris Villonco is the new Lavinia Arguelles in the musical ‘Bituing Walang Ningning.’ She recently voiced her opinion on the controversy involving the musical play and veteran actress
Cherie Gil.

Last June 19, Ms. Gil through her lawyer Atty. Lorna Kapunan issued a Cease and Desist letter asking Viva Films and the management of the Newport Performing Arts Theater to stop using the famous line “You’re nothing but a second rate, trying hard, copycat” in their musical.

Cris made a statement through Instagram saying that despite the bad publicity that the show got, she's keeping a positive outlook about everything that happened. She added that this controversy won’t stop the whole production for giving the audience a good show.

“Loving all the controversy Bituing Walang Ningning is generating...hindi kami perfect, nor original.....just a group of actors and singers trying to put on a good show... Kaya kung gusto niyong magthrowback 80s -fashion, hairstyle, makeup, at kanta, manood na po kayo. Sa buhok pa lang, puno na ang stage. Let the reign of Lavinia begin.... Ika nga ng Mga cast members namin: Ituloy Ang Musikal!”
