Celebrities express support for Gilas despite loss at the FIBA Asia Finals

Gilas Pilipinas fell short in winning the FIBA Asia Finals over China, but celebrities continued to express their support and appreciation for the country’s national basketball team.
Danica Sotto-Pingris only had gratitude to say for the game well fought for by her husband Marc Pingris and his teammates.
“Salamat Gilas Pilipinas! #labangtapat Thank you Lord for keeping them safe and thank you for the opportunity! #puso #labanpilipinas,” she wrote.
Bianca Gonzales-Intal, wife of national basketball player JC Intal, couldn’t help but feel emotional.
“From the day you got the call for Gilas to this point that you boys have a silver medal, God has been so good!!!! We can’t be any prouder. Time for you boys to come home. #LabanPilipinas #PUSO,” she said, sharing a photo of a gift her husband received before the finals.
Dabarkads Pauleen Luna and Kapuso host Chris Tiu also expressed their Filipino pride.
“Still so proud of Gilas Pilipinas! God speed,” she said, while Chris noted, “No one expected them to get this far. They sacrificed and played their hearts out for the country. #Puso #salute.”
Papa Dan of Barangay 97.1 hinted about Gilas not giving up. He wrote, quoting a song, “Ika’y matutumba. Ika’y masasawi. Mabibilangan ka ngunit babangon kang muli.”
International basketball phenom Kobe Paras was sure about his opinion, “Gilas deserves Rio.”
While Gilas Pilipinas have missed the chance to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, their efforts and sacrifice did not end in zilch.
GMA sports news correspondent Mark Zambrano explained, “We still have 3 berths in the Olympic qualifiers to play for. Again, the dream isn’t shattered.”
Gilas Pilipinas player Marc Pingris has also acknowledged the empowerment they have been getting from all their families and supporters.
Marc dedicates their Silver medal to them, saying, “Kahit hindi natin nakuha ‘yung ginto, ramdam naming ‘yung suporta at pagmamahal niyo. Karangalan kong i-represent ang Pilipinas at lahat ng Pilipino. Mabuhay po ang Pilipino! #puso.”
