Australia-raised Migo Adecer beefs up learning Filipino for ‘StarStruck’

Considering how he spent 15 out of the 16 years of his life in Australia, it’s no wonder how Migo Adecer has a difficult time speaking in Filipino. Although others find his Australian accent endearing, he thinks that it keeps him from getting ahead in 'StarStruck.'

“The thing that holds me back is Tagalog kasi I was born in Bacolod so Ilonggo ako then pinalaki ako sa Australia,” he said.

Determined to make it in the Philippine showbiz, the artista hopeful has committed himself to learning how to speak the language.

“As soon as I dedicated myself to try to make it to the Filipino industry, of course, I have to learn the language … I’ve never been so determined to really learn it kasi I know that they’re gonna throw at us longer and longer scripts and it’s gonna be in Tagalog so paano ako, diba? I was doing Tagalog lessons only once a week or twice a week but [now], I’m gonna do it whenever we don’t have [an engagement for] 'StarStruck',” he shared.

The young contestant is flattered with the compliments he’s been getting about his talent and charm, but acknowledges that he needs to keep pushing boundaries for him to go far in the competition.

“[I know that] talent and good looks are what you need to get into showbiz, but number one [for me is] attitude [next is faith in] God,” he declared.
