The Philippine entertainment industry is in shock after news broke out that internationally acclaimed actress Jaclyn Jose has passed away. She was 60.
Jaclyn or May Jane Guck in real life cemented her place in history, after winning the Best Actress trophy at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Ma' Rosa. She was the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to win this prestigious honor.
PPL Entertainment, the talent management agency of the seasoned actress, released a statement confirming the untimely death of the showbiz gem.
The statement reads, “It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose (real name Mary Jane Guck).
“More details will be shared as soon as they are available.”
They also asked everyone to respect the privacy of the Guck and Eigenmann families as they mourn the death of their beloved family member.
“The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose and for them to be allowed the respect and privacy to mourn her passing, and navigate these difficult times,” PPL Entertainment requested.

In the afternoon of March 4, Andi Eigemann together with her half-brother Gabby Eigenmann faced the members of the press to share the details about the death of Miss Jaclyn.
Andi confirmed that her mother suffered from a heart attack.
She said, “[It is] with great sadness that I announce the untimely passing of my nanay, Mary Jane Guck better known as Jaclyn Jose.
“At the age of 60 on the morning of March 2nd, 2024 due to a Myocardial infarction or a heart attack.”
“We'd like to thank everyone who has since extended their prayers and condolences to us. As our family is trying to come to terms with this unfortunate incident. Please provide us the respect and privacy to grieve and we hope this would put all speculations to rest.” Andi said.
