Kapuso leading lady and animal right's advocate Carla Abellana took to Instagram last Monday (January 4) to call the attention of authorities about the poor facilities of Manila and Malabon Zoo.

According to Carla, the animals inside these facilities deserve a much better sanctuary or should be released back in their natural habitat.

Carla explained, "This is terrible. All I know for sure is that this isn't the first. I believe it's best if they just close down Manila Zoo and even Malabon Zoo, quite honestly. These animals deserve to be in much better sanctuaries."

"I wouldn't like to think they should be released in their true homes because either they'd be helpless in surviving on their own (because they were raised in captivity), hunted down and killed, or both," the actress added.

In addition, the 'Ismol Family' star also asked the government to intervene, because the current condition of these animals is downright cruel.

"I hope our government won't forget we actually have "zoos". I wouldn't even call them zoos. But more importantly, I hope our government will just close these zoos down and transfer the animals to sanctuaries such as the one in Calauit. Government officials, PLEASE HELP. #notoanimalcruelty #yestoanimalresponsibility."
