Sunshine Looks Ahead

Sara took us along on her emotional journey, and we followed without fail. But fortunately, each heartache meets its end, and sadness is forgotten in time. Sunshine Dizon reveals that for its finale, “Impostora” will give everyone a happy ending. After that, what's next? Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. The final weeks Avid fans of the primetime series would know that there are two versions of the same girl, one of which is the “impostora (impostor),” because Sara (Lara’s twin; Sara and Lara were originally played by Iza Calzado) was transformed into a Vanessa (Sunshine Dizon) look alike by Leandro (Luis Alandy), Vanessa’s lover. As both Sara and Vanessa, Sunshine has done every actor’s dream – to be an endearing bida, yet still not miss out on the fun of being the conniving kontrabida. Her personal pick if given a choice between the two portrayals is Vanessa, especially during the character’s “milder” scenes. “Both (characters) kasi, parating mabigat, e. Sobra, nakakabaliw! Lalo na pag nagdo-double double (na). Sobrang tasking siya.” To portray Sara and Vanessa effectively onscreen, Sunshine says there’s another actress who plays her double: Czarina De Leon. “I’ve worked with her in Anna Karen Nina (1996) way, way back. Lumalabas talaga siya, at artista siya.” Although the two don’t look alike when viewed from the front, Sunshine says that they have the same upper body built and skin type, which is why angled shots give the illusion that they are the same girl. “Natatawa nga ako sa sarili ko pag dalawa na sabay! Parang ang weird, seeing myself na dalawa ako, tapos 'yung isa, ang bait-bait, 'yung isa naman, sobrang evil na person!” Having to act as Iza Calzado with another person’s face is quite a feat, but Sunshine does it seamlessly. Still, the primetime drama queen remains humble when asked about how much she has grown as an actress. “I don’t know specifically kung anong aspect or what, but I’d like to think that I did grow in some way. Siguro it’s not for me to say, but for the audience to tell, na ‘Ah, may difference.’ I can’t really say. But ako naman, ever since, pag may bagong trabaho, since it’s a different character that I’m playing, I make sure that it’s something (new) na mapapanood nila.” After two months What will keep Sunshine busy after Impostora? “I heard there is (something lined up for me), but I’m not sure pa what it is. But definitely, it will be drama again. I think it’s gonna be primetime. But I’m not sure pa, ha, kasi wala pang specific na sinasabi.” Expect a lot of buzz about her new GMA project, because she says the longest break she’ll be taking is two months before her next show! She’s also looking forward to doing a movie, as long as it doesn’t clash with her schedule. “Sana, kung mayroon, okay lang. I really don’t know what’s in store for the coming months, but kung mayroon, then as long as my schedule would permit it, then I’d love to do one.” Regardless of what project she gets, the possibilities are endless for this actress when it comes to roles she wants to play. “Actually, there’s so much to do! Kasi kahit sabihin mong kontrabida ka ulit, o bida ka ulit, it’s always going to be a different character. Depende na ‘yun kung paano mo i-aattack 'yung characters. So it’s limitless. Pwedeng mahirap ka pa rin, but ibang tao naman ‘yun, di ba?” Sunshine is also thinking of finally enrolling in a cooking class come October. “Actually, I’m gonna fix all of that after the show. I’m looking into rin if I can go back to La Salle College of St. Benilde and finish my course. Kung hindi naman, I could probably get my papers na lang and enroll in a different school, ‘cos I also wanna take up Humanities.” Due to her hectic showbiz schedule, she was forced to put her studies on hold during freshman year at St. Benilde where she was taking up Business Management. “Naka-dalawang sem pa lang ako. Noong time kasi na nag-enroll ako, ‘yun naman din ‘yung nagsta-start na ang Encantadia (2005), so they asked me to stop. E isa ‘yan sa mga frustrations ko, na talagang makatapos ng college!” With so much success at such a young age, Sunshine need not worry, for she’ll surely find a way to manage everything in her own time. Right now, she’s concentrating on making the last few weeks of Impostora a performance to remember, so better tune in every week night so you won’t miss out on anything! “Actually, madugo 'yung last few weeks of Impostora. Okay naman, I think they will be happy with the ending. Mare-resolve lahat ng issues, but then maraming malalaking eksena, like we’ll be shooting a scene na pinasok ako sa kabaong! Parang ililibing ako nang buhay!” she shares with a laugh. Talk about Impostora in the iGMA Forum! Text SUNSHINE (your message) to 4627 to Feel the Fun with Fanatxt!
