'Bubble Gang' director Uro dela Cruz passes away

The whole Bubble Gang team is mourning the death of their director Uro dela Cruz this Thursday (February 4). Several news websites reported that Direk Uro died at around 5:30 am who was previously diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.

Kapuso star Michael V dedicated the award that Bubble Gang took in the recently concluded 2016 Platinum Stallion Media Awards to Direk Uro.

Meanwhile, former Bubble Gang star Ogie Alcasid shared on Instagram a photo he took when he visited the brilliant director.  He went on to thank Direk Uro for all the lessons he imparted to him. “Salamat direk Uro dela Cruz Sa lahat ng naituro mo Sa amin. Rest now Direk and be with Jesus.”


Kapuso leading lady Gwen Zamora also posted a selfie with Direk Uro.


Aside from being the director of the country's longest-running gag show, Uro dela Cruz is known as a prolific screenwriter. He wrote the screenplays of Unfaithful Wife, Scorpio Nights, and Virgin Forest that got him nominated for Best Screenplay at the Gawad Urian Awards in 1986.

We will miss you and may you rest in peace, Direk Uro.
