Rufa Mae Quinto is confirmed to have a standing warrant of arrest, her lawyer Atty. Mary Louise Reyes said in an official statement.

24 Oras reported on Monday that Rufa Mae is facing a case related to Dermacare, the same company involved in the arrest of actress and businesswoman Neri Naig.

Atty. Reyes confirmed Rufa Mae is charged with 14 counts of violation of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code, which implies that "securities such as shares and investments may not be sold in the Philippines without a registration statement duly filed with and approved by the SEC."

It was also clarified that Rufa Mae is not involved in a large-scale estafa case, and will comply and post bail for her violation.

"She will face those charges... mag-voluntary surrender siya and magpo-post po kami ng bail for that. She's worried kasi hindi naman totoo 'yung allegations kasi my client po is just a brand ambassador, a model-endorser," Atty. Reyes stated.

She clarified, "Ni hindi sa kanya nakapagbayad ng downpayment, tapos 'yung mga tseke po puro tumalbog. Lahat po 'yan hawak naman po namin 'yung ebidensya, ipe-present namin sa court."

Atty. Reyes said Rufa Mae is currently considering her option to file a case in her defense.

GMA Integrated News has reported the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released an advisory back in September 2023 regarding Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Solutions, saying that the company was not authorized to solicit investments because they are not registered and have no license to sell securities,

The advisory from SEC also said that salesmen, brokers, dealers, agents, promoters, influencers, and endorsers of Dermacare may be sued.

On Monday, King of Talk Boy Abunda also talked about Rufa Mae's case in his Fast Talk with Boy Abunda episode.

He mentioned, "It's a very complicated case pero palaisipan po ito. I think the industry as a whole should be studying our contracts more at kaninong responsibilidad ba ito."
