Director Darryl Yap recently released the poster for his The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma film, despite facing 19 counts of cyberlibel from actor and TV host Vic Sotto.

On Saturday, January 11, Darryl shared the official poster of his controversial film detailing the life and death of former actress and sexy star Pepsi Paloma.

“Ang Balita. Ang Intriga. Ang Kontrobersya. Ang Hubad na Katotohanan,” Darryl captioned his post.

In a separate post, Darryl addressed several questions of netizens, including the individuals who support his film, and why the film will be shown in 2025.

He clarified that it was not Imee Marcos, or the Jalosjos family who supported and backed him for this film. The young director said that Imee even asked him not to go through with the film.

Darryl also clarified why the film will be shown in 2025, “Kaya 2025 ilalabas dahil 40th Death Anniversary ni Pepsi Paloma. Hindi dahil Eleksyon.”

The young director also noted how important the case of Pepsi is to the residents of Olongapo where the former actress hailed from.

“Hindi nyo maiintindihan kasi 'di naman kayo taga-Olongapo, hindi kayo Artist na Taga-Olongapo. May lugar sa amin na ang tawag ay Pepsi. May sariling hand sign para alam ng jeep na doon ka bababa! Gano'n kahalaga,” he wrote.

He continued, “Mali ang tanong na sino ang nasa likod ko, bakit ako matapang, kundi ano. Walang iba kundi ang buong katotohanan.”

On Thursday, January 9, Vic Sotto filed 19 counts of cyberlibel against Darryl after the film's teaser mentioned his name. Sotto's legal counsel, Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz, confirmed the case was filed against Yap before the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Meanwhile, in Emil Sumangil's report on 24 Oras on Friday, January 10, Darryl's legal counsel, Atty. Raymond Fortun said that his client sent a copy of the film's script to Vic ahead of the teaser's release.

Fortun said that Darryl sent the script to the actor and TV host so he could comment on it.

“The purpose was really for them to give comments dun sa script, so wala naman po. Ilang beses po na nag-follow-up si Direk Darryl na tungkol dun until finally na shoot na lahat ng mga scenes, so hindi na namin kasalanan 'yun," he said.
