Police have arrested two individuals accused of stealing gadgets from stores in Davao City and Tagum City in separate occasions.

Some of the stolen cellphones were also recovered at a store in Marawi City, where they were allegedly sold by the suspects.

The incidents were captured on security cameras with the suspects carting away millions worth of gadgets and cash on June 24, 2026, and using vans as getaway vehicles.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the two suspects, both from Pasay City and reportedly transient residents in Marawi City, were arrested at a checkpoint in Barangay Suarez, Iligan City.

“We were able to conduct our hot pursuit there ng ilang araw and fortunately, 2 days ago, nakita natin na dumaan ‘yung specific van na ginamit nila sa insidente sa Toril. At nakita nga natin indeed ‘yung dalawang suspects. Actually, they admitted the crime na sila nga ang pumunta dito at doon sa Tagum,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Toril Police Station Chief, Major Sheryl Bautista, said.

On Thursday afternoon, July 2, another man was arrested in Marawi City for allegedly buying the stolen gadgets and selling them in his store.

“Nag-conduct kami doon ng surveillance and we were able to check randomly ang mga cellphones. Indeed, mayroong nag-positive doon sa inventory,” Bautista added.

Authorities are still pursuing six other suspects.

One of the suspects arrested admitted that the van used by the group belonged to him, but he denied involvement.

“Wala po akong kinalaman sa ganyan dahil tulad ng sinabi ko, hiniram lang po ‘yung van ko,” one of the suspects said.

The suspects will face robbery charges.

Security has also been tightened at the gadget store in Toril.

“Sa karon, tighten namo among security, secure namo among stocks dayon invest mi sa guards siguro syempre insurance,” the store owner said.
