Who are the true princesses?

Aquano was sent on a mission to find Atlantika's two lost princesses. But fate has it that he will fall in love with one of them, and he will have to kill the other. There are five women in Atlantika who are all eligible to become royalty in one way or another: Iza Calzado (Cielo), Isabel Oli (Alona), Valerie Concepcion (Elisa), Desiree del Valle (Azita), and Katrina Halili (Helena). Cielo lives in the mortal world and was raised by foster parents Ising (Janice Jurado) and Roman (Ronnie Lazaro). Iza shares, "Doon din siya nakatira kung saan nakatira sina Alona. Galing din siya sa ampunan dati, tapos naging magulang niya si Ising. Barrio girl ako dito! Medyo may pagka-comedy sa una. Medyo may pagka-light pa 'yung character. Pero nasa sa inyo na, at abangan ninyo para malaman niyo kung sino ako sa mga prinsesa, o isa man lang ba ako sa mga hinahanap nila." Azita, on the other hand, was raised in Atlantika. She is a normal Atlantikan but is the lady in waiting of Queen Celebes (Jean Garcia). Although she’s not royalty, she has dreams of becoming one and just might have the opportunity to take over the throne. Elisa is also a mortal; she's a fisherman's daughter. "Pero accidentally, mapupunta siya sa Atlantika, so siya 'yung kikilalanin na prinsesa ng buong kaharian ng Atlantika," Valerie explains. Also living in the mortal world is Alona, who works as a maid. "Simpleng tao (lang ako), may kapatid ako dito (na) si Kiko (at) nagtatrabaho kami sa isang mayaman napamilya. (Tapos) may isang girl diyan na baliw (na) nagkukwento sa akin ng Atlantika. Kaya 'yun, ako 'yung inuutusan niya palagi," says Isabel. Joining the the rest of the girls is Katrina Halili, who plays Helena. "Close friends kami ni Cielo. Daddy ko doon si Pen Medina, si Dr. Naval, (na isang) marine biologist. Medyo kakaiba 'yung Atlantika kasi good ako dito," she notes. After playing villain roles in her past telefantasyas, Katrina gets to be a good girl this time. The missing princesses' names are Amaya and Ruana, and Iza says that the series will intentionally mislead audiences on who the rightful heir to the throne is. "You're supposed to be confused! People are supposed to be confused! They're supposed to not know who Amaya or Ruana will be!" As the story progresses, it will be revealed that the girls have innate supernatural powers that will ultimately prove if they're royal blooded or not. Valerie says that audiences will learn to love the sea after witnessing the show's fantastic display of the country's natural resources. "(The show has a lot of underwater scenes). 'Yung mga may takot sa tubig, I'm sure mai-in love na sa karagatan!" she says with a big smile. One of the coolest parts of doing Atlantika for these actresses is being able to train for scuba diving as a prerequisite for their roles. But some of them, like Isabel, used to be hesitant about this. She admits that there are times when fear overcomes her excitement for the series: "Siguro, hindi (ako) excited, (more of) natatakot! Natatakot (ako) kasi kailangan kong mag-dive. May trauma ako sa swimming (at) sa dagat mismo pero I love swimming and all,(especially) sa beach; sobrang love ko 'yan. Kaso lang, it's just that ayokong mag-dive. Nalunod na ako dati," Isabel shares. Iza, who has been with the production team since the Encantadia days, says that she's elated to be with the team again. She cites that as the number one thing that gets her excited about being in Atlantika. "And next is story wise, it's never been done. So it's another gamble, it's another risk, and hopefully we'll get to pull it off. With your help, audience, ladies and gentlement, boys and girls, lolo (and) lola, ate (and) kuya, mommy (and) daddy, please, with your help, ipapakita naming sa inyo at maramdaman at mapaniwala namin kayo na mayroon talagang Atlantika!"
