Diana’s punchlines

Diana Zubiri is definitely not a pretty face with a sexy body. This former Encantadia sang'gre is also a comedienne as she stars on Bubble Gang every Friday night. Diana has been with Bubble Gang for quite sometime now, but she admits that she still hasn’t quite adjusted to wearing a comic's shoes. “Until now nangangapa pa rin ako kasi hindi naman ako komedyante.” She reveals that if you look closely, she and the rest of the girls only become hilarious because of the lines written for them, “Hindi kami totally nagpapatawa kaya lang nakakataw dahil sa punch lines.” Despite this, she’s honored to be apart of the gang and happy that she gets to entertain millions of people across the country “Proud ako na sexy comedians (kami) like Rufa Mae, parang doon kami nakahilira.” She may not fit the part of being an all out joker like Michael V. or Ogie Alcasid, Diana shares that it’s the rapport she has created with the gang keeps her happy. Whether it be on or off the camera the Bubble gang set is full of jokes, “Actually yung guys kayang kaya nilang pagtulungan kami, ganoon yung dating lalo na yang si Bitoy (Michael V.).” She even shares a few things about her co-stars that the audience might not realize. For instance, Michael V. is the smartest amongst all the guys while Ogie is the nicest. Hunky Antonio Aquitania is the “makulit” one while Wendell Ramos apparently is a great listener. On the girls side Francine Prieto is a bit hot headed, while Maureen Larrazabal has a kind heart. “Kasi meron siyang dalawang ampon” shares Diana. Laughing off camera is a normal thing for these gifted clowns, but what if the jokes are on-camera? How do they deal with the funny ad libs? “Ang hirap ako lalo na kung yung eksena na kailangan galit (ka) tapos yung punch line noon nakakatawa, ang hirap ng feeling.” She talks about an incident she had three years ago with co-star Michael V. “Naiyak ako kasi sobrang hind makuha yung line siguro mga naka 11 takes kami tapos nakiusap ako sa kanya na tulungan mo ako.” The successful show has lasted for twelve long years. Now that they’ve reached this mark we wonder, what were Diana’s favorite skits of all time? “Ako gags talaga yung palagi kong gusto, at saka before yung Muchos Grasas (sketch).” What can the rest of the country expect from this hit veteran gag show? “Siguro kailangan lang nilang abanagan, meron kaming gagawin na para sa isang gag show imposibleng gagawin yun.” Watch Diana every Fridays on Bubble gang and weeknights on Zaido .
