Lindsay Custodio

Former actress-singer Lindsay Custodio has taken legal action under the Violence Against Women and Children law against her estranged husband, Frederick Cale.

Lindsay accused her estranged husband of subjecting her to various forms of abuse throughout their marriage, including sexual, emotional, verbal, psychological, and financial maltreatment.

The actress appeared at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office on Monday, June 2, accompanied by her legal counsel, Atty. Heyz Meking, to formally file a case under Republic Act No. 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. This marks her second attempt to seek legal redress after a similar complaint she filed in 2024 was dismissed.

"Kasi, I'm really having a hard time. I'm going through a difficult time, itong sobrang trauma and depression na pinagdaanan ko," Lindsay said during a press interview.

Lindsay shared that she was once overwhelmed by trauma, which kept her from recognizing the abuse she experienced. Now, with clarity and awareness of her rights, she understands that certain past incidents were forms of abuse she hadn't identified at the time.

"Nung na-explain sa akin ng maigi ni attorney, I realized na sobra 'yung ginawa niya sa akin."

"Ito po 'yung first step to my healing," Lindsay said. "[This is] justice for myself and sa ating mga kababaihan. Kasama ko rin po dito 'yung mga katulad ko na may pinagdadaanan, that were abused."

She also recounted incidents in which her husband allegedly insisted on taking their wedding cash gifts against her will, and even took her to a bank shortly after the ceremony to deposit their gift checks into a joint account so he could gain access to the funds.

At the bank, Lindsay said her husband pressured her to withdraw all the money from her personal account to cover his credit card debts.

She also alleged in her complaint that her husband, who had already withdrawn financial support, was involved with other women during their marriage.

Lindsay was formerly married to Tanauan Vice Mayor Julius Caesar Platon II, who passed away from a heart attack in 2018. She later married Frederick in 2022. The couple attracted media attention when Lindsay publicly shared her alleged “traumatic experience” on their wedding day.
