'Playlist' feature: Top One Project talks about the perks of being in a boy band

By MARY LOUISE LIGUNAS; Interview by ANICA SAMODIO

Mico Cruz, Joshua Jacobe, Miko Manguba, Adrian Pascual and Louie Pedroso did not initially envision themselves in a boy band. After joining and winning To The Top, and now being collectively known as Top One Project or T.O.P., they don’t wish to have it any other way.

For them, work becomes so much more fun because they see each other as friends, magka-barkadas and brothers.

“[We’re] in good company eh. If you’re new to the industry, we go around doing gigs, right? It’s fun when you’re with other people and not just by yourself,” Louie said.

The group becomes closer by the day as they spend time with each other even beyond work hours. Because of the brotherhood they have already formed, they are able to encourage each other through difficulties and help each other achieve dreams, both as a group and as individuals.

“[We love having the] confidence na hindi ka mag-isa,” Miko said.

Also, being part of a group has allowed them to enrich their craft. Even if they’re just starting out in the Philippine music industry, they feel like they’ve helped each other develop their passions and improve their talent.

“Sobrang different ng sound because if you sing with a group, mas rich 'yung sound,” Louie pointed out.

T.O.P. is set to take on the Playlist stage tomorrow, August 10. They will perform their song Paggising and their rendition of Miss Misteryoso from the program Dangwa.
