Ken Chan holds first solo concert

By MARY LOUISE LIGUNAS

Ken Chan hit a career milestone as he held his first solo concert last night, August 19 at the Zirkoh Comedy and Music Bar in Tomas Morato. Dubbed My Destiny, the concert was similarly named after Destiny Rose, his successful first title role where he played a transgender woman.

A few minutes after he went offstage, Ken couldn’t take the smile off his face as he got to fulfill a dream while overwhelmingly receiving love from the people around him.

“Sobrang masayang masaya ako na naging successful ang first solo concert ko at nakakataba ng puso kasi nandiyan sumuporta ang mga executives ng GMA, mga kapatid ko sa industriya, mga kapwa artista ko,” he said.

He attributes much of his concert’s success to his management, the production team, and his friends who agreed to be part of the show.

“Sina Nanay (Manilyn Reynes), Jeric Gonzalez, si Kim Rodriguez, RJ Agustin and Divine, maraming maraming salamat. Sobrang nang dahil sa kanila kung bakit nagawa ko rin ‘to. And of course, sa GMA Artist Center, GMA Network, and Firestarters Manila. Nang dahil sa kanila, natupad 'yung dream ko na mapakita, ma-share ko 'yung passion ko sa pagkanta,” he added.

He admitted to initially not being confident about the turnout but his face lit up and heart expanded at the sight of a full house.

“Actually, kinabahan ako kasi 'di ba [umuulan ng malakas] ngayon… Talagang hindi ko akalain na full house kami. Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam na marami ang dumalo… Kitang–kita mo 'yung suporta [ng mga tao], especially family ko [and friends ko]… I’m just really, really happy and I hope na nag-enjoy din 'yung mga audience,” he concluded.
