UPDATED (7:47 p.m.): Imelda Schweighart resigns as Miss Philippines Earth due to controversial comments about Miss Earth 2016 winner

Imelda Schweighart has resigned from her post as the reigning Miss Philippines Earth after a video of her making negative comments about Miss Earth 2016's winner went viral.

A video posted in the Pageantology Facebook page showed Imelda signing autographs and talking to her supporters. She then threw shade on Miss Earth 2016, Miss Ecuador Katherine Espin, saying that some parts of her body are fake.

Imelda can be heard saying, “Yung nanalo peke ilong, peke baba, peke boobs! Miss Earth, dapat natural."

She was also supposed to wear a yellow Leo Almodal creation if she was not eliminated early in the competition. It was Miss Ecuador who eventually wore the said gown.

Miss Philippines was previously in hot water after her statement about comparing President Rodrigo Duterte to Adolf Hitler was caught on video.
