Defining Characters

Rhian Ramos, is really happy with her role as Cindy, on the afternoon show My Only Love. Despite the difficulty of playing the relentlessly tortured protagonist, Rhian is optimistic that Cindy Moreno will be received well by her audience, much like the characters she has previously played on the primetime slot. But how different is Cindy from Lea and Avril? Text by Alula Love M. Dela Cruz. Photos by Mitch S. Maurico Though Rhian pities her character, Cindy Moreno in My Only Love, she finds her love story to be the cutest amongst all of the shows she has done. She finally gets to play the female best friend, “It’s like Teng and Kit (Mars Ravelos Captain Barbell) they were fun to watch because they were playful. To see characters like that slowly fall in love, it gets you somewhere. So parang it’s nice [playing] the Kit.” Rhian revealed some insider tidbit about her audition for Mars Ravelos Captain Barbell, “When I tried out for Barbell, fingers crossed I hope I’m Kit. [But ]I’m not complaining kasi, Lea has her own things din naman” explains Rhian. She also adds that actresses tend to naturally love the characters they play, “I really learned to love her like, I feel in love with my character. If I read [my script] with Teng confessing his love to Kit I cry kasi, I get hurt cause I was like ‘I love Teng’.” For Rhian they aren’t just characters, they’re real persons with their own set of personalities, “You get comfortable with your character na if something happens in like not the favor of your character then you [get emotional].” So who among all the characters that she’s played, resembles Rhian in real life? “Cindy. In terms of physical like body language and the way she dresses and the cadence of the way she speaks.” But her personality is much more like the strong-willed Avril of Lupin, “The way Avril reacted to things that’s what I had in common with her. No one gets to treat me [unjustly], I have human rights you know this is politics right here,” laughs Rhian. Jokes aside, Rhian is very passionate when it comes to acting. That is why she takes every role given to her, as a challenge. With this optimistic view on work and her drive to take her projects to the next level, Rhian is the industry’s newest jewel that will is already sparkling in the eyes of everyone.
