Mark’s New Beat

Alamo and GMA Network. Mark Herras' love life is an open book. The public seems to know his every break up, make up and more. Like any regular teen, Mark had his fair share of mischievous relationships and his exploits have earned him a rep as a bit of a heartbreaker. But on his new show, Sine Novela’s My Only Love, the bad boy of the dance floor becomes a boy next door. Mark plays the wealthy Billy, originally played by multi-awarded actor, Gabby Concepcion. “Ang naiba lang dito, sa original si Gabby talagang mayaman. Dito parang mahirap ako na nanalo sa lotto.” Mark also adds that the viewers and his fan will finally see him in a different kind of character, “Sa mga past trabaho aksi, lagi akong mahirap. Dito mayaman naman ako.” The plot may have undergone some tweaking, but the essence of story remains the same. “Kay Bianca (King) ako unang na in love. Tapos naging tulay namin si Rhian (Ramos), so best friend kami ni Rhian” says Mark. Mark and Rhian are paired for the first time. Both actors have had different love teams; Mark with cutie Ryza Cennon in Fantastic Man and Rhian with the country’s premiere leading man, Richard Gutierrez. Though their chemistry has yet to be proven, Mark is very happy that he gets to work with someone as talented like Rhian Ramos. “Wala naman problema kasi si Rhian dito parang boyish, [kaya] masarap [siyang] kasama.” But Mark reveals that during their first taping day, Rhian was a bit uncomfortable working with him. “Inamin ni Rhian na noong first taping namin na-ilang siya, kasi hinahawakan ko yung mukha niya pero ngayon ok na” smiles Mark. With a new love team and a box office movie to revive, does Mark feel the pressure surrounding this ambitious project? “Actually pressured kaming lahat hindi lang ako. Unang-una blockbuster movie at the same time sobrang taas ng ratings nung mga na unang drama.” Despite this, Mark is still hoping for a positive outlook , “We’re hoping kung di man pumantay, [sana] tumaas pa.” With high hopes and expectations, Mark’s rendition of the princely Billy will surely be remembered because Mark promises his fans to give his best in any role that is given to him, “I was hoping na sana matuwa sila, kasi ako gusto ko every time may bagong show, hindi ko man ma-iba gusto ko [sarili kong acting] yung character.” Be sure to watch Mark daily on My Only Love only on GMA’s Dramarama sa hapon.
