Action star Robin Padilla wrote a lengthy post dedicated to his only son Ali to be proud of his family name, despite his father’s reputation.

Binoy revealed the reason of his imprisonment in 1994, “I went to prison, not because of treason or being a hostage taker, I was put inside because of guns that [were] issued to me by the government, and the court chose to deny it.”

The Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema served two years in jail but was given a conditional pardon by then Philippine president Fidel Ramos as well as an absolute pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte last year.

The actor said his conscience is clear, and that he didn’t use his status, wealth or power to “influence judgment.”

“I believe in the divine justice,” adding, “I was able to get out of prison early because of a law that was passed, changing the old law that victimized hundreds of violators like me. I was given a pardon, not because of influence or money, [but] I worked for the bureau against the drug menace inside.”
