Goodbye, My Only Love

“I just hope we made your afternoons a little more interesting,” says teen sweetheart Rhian Ramos as she extends her gratitude to the people who supported her first-ever afternoon drama series, My Only Love. Text by Jessa Ericka C. Bien. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio and Xylen Geecel A. Punelas Four months after the successful run of the movie-turned-television-series, Rhian and the rest of the cast recount the memorable events that happened in the span of their togetherness. As witnesses to the struggles of the heroine Cindy (which Rhian portrayed), everyone now takes a seat back and watches how she finds happiness with her one and only love, Billy (Mark Herras). “Sobrang laki ng challenge dun sa dalawang nagmamahalan,” Mark notes. “Emotional. Nakaka-kilig." Worth the While But what exactly is in My Only Love that makes it worth all the memories? “I’ll miss taping,” says Ruby Rodriguez, who played Yaya Tessie. “I’ll miss most the fact that you’re doing something different, [since] this is a soap opera which I don’t [usually] do. I’ll miss playing a character.” Rhian herself shares the same sentiments about taping, especially when she does scenes with Mark. “If I’m in a scene with Mark, we’re face-to-face and the camera’s behind me taking a close up, I make faces all the time! And he does the same to me!” the young actress shares. “It’s funny, it’s annoying at the same time, but at least it shows how okay we are with each other.” More than the characters they played and the jokes they shared, the cast admit that working with a nice crew and staff is something they will always cherish. “Lahat--‘yung mga staff, si Direk Topel, Direk Rommel, lahat sila mami-miss ko,” Kevin Santos, who played Delf, says. “Lahat dito kasi okay, super nice nila sa ’kin.” Alfred Vargas (Eman), seconds this opinion: “Masaya kasi I like the production. So for me, it’s not work--it’s just something that I love to do.” He also remains optimistic about working with the same people in the future: “If there’s something that I’d miss, it’s my relationship with the people here. I know naman I’ll be working with them [again], so okay naman.” Secrets to Success As My Only Love ends, the stars give several reasons for the success of their afternoon soap. “The story was a big deal kasi ang daming twists and turns. Parang it was kept interesting the whole time, [so] we never had a dull moment in the story. I think that’s why they enjoed watching,” Rhian observes. Mark also acknowledges the good working relationships between everyone in the team. “Working with people na madaling ka-trabaho [contributed to the success] kasi lahat-lahat dito naging mabait. Nagtutulungan kami, at ine-enjoy naming bawat taping,” he says. Kevin adds, “Nagkakaroon kami ng teamwork. Binibigyan naming ang bawat eksena ng galing para maging okay ang show.” In the end, the stars believe they still owe a lot to their fans. “Maraming salamat sa pag-suporta sa programa namin. Natutuwa naman ako na tumagal siya ng ganito. And thank you so much sa lahat ng loyal Kapuso na palaging nanonood ng GMA. Sana po kahit papano, na-touch namin ang [mga] hapon n’yo,” Rhian says.
