EXCLUSIVE: Chariz Solomon reveals reason why she stayed with GMA despite offer from rival network
Kapuso actress Chariz Solomon is one of the most talented comediennes of her generation. She has made a name for herself with her wacky antics, witty punchlines and can go toe-to-toe with other comedy heavyweights like Michael V.
What’s more, Chariz is part of two multi-awarded comedy shows of GMA-7 namely Bubble Gang and Pepito Manaloto.
But people didn’t know that Chariz almost left GMA-7 to work for another network.
In her exclusive one-on-one interview with GMANetwork.com, Chariz talked about this point in her career when she was pondering to take her talent elsewhere.
Chariz said, “Actually nung una gusto ko na i-grab [laughs]. Kasi nun hindi pa ako part ng Bubble Gang, I think nag-guest pa lang ako sa Pepito Manaloto. Tapos sobra akong frustrated that time kasi nandun ako sa parang in heat ba ako.”
“'Yun 'yung time na wala pa akong baby so naka-focused lang talaga ako sa career ko and my husband naman understands very well na this is my priority kasi habang wala pa kaming baby, talagang rumaratrat ako.”
The celebrity mom said that she was dreaming big and they offered to give her two shows.
She explained, “And I am dreaming big that time parang gusto ko talaga something big for myself. Gusto ko ng challenging roles and they offered me two shows.
“Pero nung time na ‘yun hindi naman ‘yung network mismo ang nag-offer, pero somebody from the network. 'Yun tapos they are studying my contract nung time na ‘yun.”
Eventually, Chariz chose to stay with GMA-7 that gave her a big break via StarStruck.
She also stressed that Bubble Gang was the main deciding factor for her not to jump ship to another network.
“Bubble Gang talaga, so eventually naging part ako ng Book Two ng Pepito Manaloto talagang hindi na ako umalis, dito na ako.
“Sa experience ko, [sa experience] ng mga kaibigan ko at mga kakilala din sa ABS talagang na-try din sa GMA. Parang iba din talaga... dito [sa Kapuso network] may mas puso pa din ganun, lalo na ‘yung mga shows ko. I’m very blessed talaga. Hindi ko talaga ma-explain kung gaano ako kasaya. Kaya I value talaga my Bubble Gang at Pepito, hindi siya puwedeng agawin ng ibang shows.”
